What is the Pound For Pound Challenge?
The Pound For Pound Challenge is a partnership among The Biggest Loser, Feeding America, General Mills, Subway, 24 Hour Fitness and The Kroger Co. to help Feeding America deliver millions of pounds of groceries to local food banks across the U.S.
Why partner with The Biggest Loser?
The Biggest Loser motivates millions of viewers to lose weight. This made it a great partner for The Pound For Pound Challenge, which seeks to inspire weight loss as well as provide hunger relief for America.
How was Feeding America selected to be the charitable partner?
Feeding America, formerly known as America’s Second Harvest, is the nation’s largest charitable hunger-relief organization, with a network of more than 200 member food banks and food rescue organizations serving all fifty states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
How do I participate in the Pound For Pound Challenge?
You can participate in The Pound For Pound Challenge by pledging to lose weight at PFPChallenge.com. For every pound you pledge, The Pound For Pound Challenge will donate 14¢ to Feeding America - enough to deliver one pound of groceries to a local food bank. Maximum donation of $1,080,000.
Who can participate in the Pound For Pound Challenge?
Anyone who meets the Eligibility Requirement who is interested in helping to solve the hunger crisis can participate in the Pound For Pound Challenge. Always contact your doctor before starting any weight loss program. Please do not participate if you are pregnant.
Is there a cap on the donation amount?
Yes. The Pound For Pound Challenge will donate up to $1,080,000 -- 14¢ for every pound pledged.
When will Feeding America receive the donations?
The Pound For Pound Challenge will pay the entire proceeds (up to the maximum of $1,080,000) in a single lump sum payment following the conclusion of the program in July, 2010.
How will you determine which communities receive donations?
Feeding America will distribute funds donated by The Pound For Pound Challenge based on the local food banks chosen at registration. Feeding America, however, reserves the right to distribute funds to an alternative food bank in the unlikely event that a chosen food bank ceases to be a member of Feeding America’s network during the program or is determined by Feeding America to be ineligible to receive donations.
How long will The Pound For Pound Challenge last?
You will be able to go online and pledge to lose weight until June 30, 2010.
Can I submit the Pound For Pound Seals and/or Lids I’ve saved from last year’s program?
No. We’re sorry we cannot accept Pound For Pound Seals and/or Lids beyond the submission deadline of 12/31/09. See Mail Lids & Seals link on the About Pound For Pound page for more details.
Once I have chosen a Feeding America food bank and my pledge has been confirmed, can I edit my pledge to benefit a different Feeding America food bank?
No, once your pledge is confirmed, you cannot change your Feeding American food bank designation.
Why has the maximum donation increased from $800,000 to $1,080,000?
We are pleased to announce that The Kroger Co. has recently signed on to be a Pound For Pound Challenge partner, which has enabled us to increase the maximum donation to $1,080,000.
